Uncle Tim's eGuitarCenter - Technical Training For Guitar

Lesson one

Studio

There is much more to talk about as you get to know these chords. All of these chords work to support the key of C major. They serve as the major building blocks for songs based on the key of C major.

In addition we have not discussed how they are created and what rules are responsible for their creation. All of these topics have a great impact on the way these chords are used. There is much left to discuss and it will fall into place as these lessons build on this. For now make sure you can play these chords. Use the audio clips to get the feel of them and work out with all of them.

Next week we are going to introduce the other half of the key of C major, the scale. We will switch to single note lines and begin to play single note lines with these chords. These are the basic skills that we will build with and leverage into higher level skills. It all starts with the simple skill of linking these chords.

The Chords Of C Major

Homework

Play these chords for one hour every day this week.

At first just play them slowly and make sure you are playing them exactly correctly.

Test the sound by striking each string individually and listen for any buzzing or muting.

Each note should ring out and sound clear. Use the sound files on this page to compare your sound to.
