Uncle Tim's eGuitarCenter - Technical Training For Guitar
Lesson one

Start with the C major chord. Notice you use your index finger for the C note, the second finger for the E note and the ring finger for the C note. Check every note to see if you are sounding it correctly. Play each note one at a time and pay close attention. If you are having trouble with one or more strings, stay on that string, continue to pluck the string and make adjustments to your fingers to remove the problem.

D minor is a tricky chord. The fingering shows you use fingers one, two and four. Also try using two, three and four as well as one, two and three. One of these combinations will feel better. Take a good look at your fretboard hand to see if anything might be stopping you from play these chords correctly. Is your palm against the fretboard? If your thumb wrapped around the neck? A chord that is skewed towards the higher strings like this D minor chord will be harder to play with bad habits.

E minor is one of the easiest chords available. You can play all six strings while only holding down two strings with the second and third fingers. Let this chord ring as you play it. You may find that some chords will come quicker than others. E minor may be one of the first chords you feel you can play correctly. Soon all of them will feel this way. Notice your hand naturally wants to place your fretboard hand thumb directly behind your second finger.
